Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Asset Protection Technology is responsible for leading the deployment, adoption, execution, and ongoing optimization of Asset Protection technology solutions across stores, supply chain operations, and field organizations. Guided by service and anticipation, this role partners with Asset Protection leadership, Macy's Technology, Operations, Supply Chain, Fraud, vendors, and field teams to evaluate business needs and deliver technology solutions that enhance operational effectiveness, risk mitigation, and shortage reduction.

The Senior Manager, AP Technology oversees implementation and support strategies for video management systems, RFID solutions, investigative technologies, exception reporting platforms, and other Asset Protection tools. This role leads proof-of-concept testing, business case development, technology rollout planning, training initiatives, and change management efforts to ensure successful adoption across the organization. The Senior Manager also manages vendor partnerships, expense budgets, project execution, technology governance, and a team of AP Technology Managers supporting regional operations.

Success in this role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, business partnership, and project management capabilities, along with the ability to translate operational challenges into scalable technology solutions that support Macy's Asset Protection objectives.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the deployment, adoption, and ongoing optimization of Asset Protection technology solutions across stores, supply chain facilities, and field organizations.
  • Manage a team of AP Technology Managers responsible for supporting technology programs, deployments, and operational execution across regional markets.
  • Partner with Asset Protection leadership to define technology priorities and align initiatives with strategic business objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, industry trends, and vendor solutions that support shortage reduction, investigative effectiveness, operational efficiency, and associate safety.
  • Oversee proof-of-concept testing, pilot programs, and operational evaluations to determine business value and implementation readiness.
  • Develop business cases, operational assessments, risk analyses, and recommendations supporting technology investment decisions.
  • Lead implementation planning, deployment strategies, communication plans, and adoption efforts for new AP technology solutions.
  • Partner with Macy's Technology teams to ensure effective integration, support, maintenance, and long-term sustainability of AP technology platforms.
  • Manage vendor relationships, service agreements, performance expectations, and contract deliverables to maximize solution effectiveness and value.
  • Oversee technology-related expense budgets and ensure responsible management of project and operational expenditures.
  • Monitor project progress, key milestones, implementation risks, and resource requirements to ensure successful execution.
  • Establish processes and governance that promote consistency, accountability, and operational excellence across AP technology programs.
  • Collaborate with Stores, Supply Chain, Fraud, Operations, Technology, and cross-functional business partners to identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements.
  • Support enterprise risk assessments and operational reviews related to security technology, investigative platforms, and AP operational capabilities.
  • Lead change management strategies that drive user adoption, engagement, and effective utilization of technology solutions.
  • Evaluate technology performance metrics and operational outcomes to identify enhancement opportunities and demonstrate business impact.
  • Develop and deliver executive summaries, status updates, and recommendations to Asset Protection and enterprise leadership teams.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.

 Skills You Will Need

Technology Strategy & Deployment: Experience leading enterprise technology implementations, managing deployment activities, and driving successful adoption across diverse operational environments.

Leadership: Ability to lead, coach, and develop high-performing teams while fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.

Vendor Management: Strong experience managing vendors, service providers, performance expectations, contracts, and strategic technology partnerships.

Project Management: Ability to manage multiple concurrent initiatives, coordinate stakeholders, mitigate risks, and deliver projects on schedule and within budget.

Business Partnership: Ability to build strong relationships across Asset Protection, Operations, Technology, Supply Chain, and executive leadership teams.

Change Management: Experience driving organizational adoption of new technology solutions through communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.

Strategic Thinking: Ability to evaluate business needs, identify long-term opportunities, and align technology solutions with organizational goals.

Risk Assessment: Knowledge of risk management principles, operational controls, and security technologies that support asset protection objectives.

Financial Acumen: Experience managing budgets, evaluating business cases, measuring return on investment, and supporting informed technology decisions.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and present effectively to leadership audiences.

Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex business challenges and develop practical, scalable technology solutions.

Operational Excellence: Ability to establish processes, standards, and governance models that improve consistency, efficiency, and performance.

Adaptability and Initiative: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and effectively manages changing priorities, technology advancements, and evolving business needs.

Integrity and Professionalism: Commitment to exemplifying the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, and professional conduct.

 Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Asset Protection, Technology Management, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience in Asset Protection, technology operations, systems implementation, project management, retail operations, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of leadership experience managing teams, projects, or cross-functional technology initiatives.
  • Experience leading enterprise technology deployments and large-scale operational implementations.
  • Experience managing vendor relationships, technology contracts, and service delivery expectations.
  • Knowledge of retail technology solutions, video management systems, RFID technologies, investigative tools, analytics platforms, or related security technologies preferred.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders across business and technology organizations.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and business planning capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills with experience supporting executive-level decision making.
  • Proven ability to influence outcomes and build consensus across multiple business functions.
  • This role involves performing essential job functions such as communication, collaboration, and use of office and computer systems. Responsibilities include the ability to access and review written and electronic information, and to move within the work environment and interact with workplace materials as needed to carry out job responsibilities.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule based on department and company needs, including travel as required.
