Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking an accomplished Software Engineering Director to lead the strategy, execution, and modernization of digital platforms supporting Wealth, Corporate, Commercial, and Institutional Banking (WCIB). This leader will drive innovation, engineering excellence, cloud adoption, and digital transformation while ensuring scalable, secure, and resilient enterprise solutions that enhance the client experience and support business growth. The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise with strong leadership capabilities and a proven ability to influence senior stakeholders across a complex organization.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and develop high-performing software engineering teams responsible for delivering enterprise digital solutions across WCIB platforms.
Define and execute the long-term technology strategy, roadmap, and modernization initiatives aligned with business objectives.
Oversee the design, development, deployment, and support of scalable, secure, and resilient digital applications.
Partner with executive leadership, product teams, and business stakeholders to prioritize investments and technology initiatives.
Drive adoption of modern engineering practices, including Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD, cloud-native development, and automation.
Establish engineering standards, architecture governance, and best practices to improve quality, performance, and maintainability.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk, security, and data protection requirements across all digital platforms.
Lead large-scale technology transformation initiatives, including cloud migration, platform modernization, and digital innovation programs.
Manage engineering budgets, resource planning, vendor relationships, and technology investments to maximize business value.
Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, talent development, accountability, and operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
10 or more years of relevant software engineering experience
Six or more years of experience leading multiple software engineering teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
Executive Leadership experience leading large-scale software engineering organizations and enterprise technology initiatives.
Strong expertise in Digital Transformation, Application Development, and Enterprise Technology Strategy.
Deep knowledge of Cloud Technologies including Azure, AWS, cloud-native architectures, and platform modernization.
Experience with Enterprise Architecture, distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and scalable application design.
Strong understanding of Agile Delivery, DevOps, CI/CD, automation, and modern software engineering practices.
Proven ability to drive Technology Governance, Risk Management, Information Security, and regulatory compliance.
Exceptional Stakeholder Management, executive communication, and cross-functional influence skills.
Experience evaluating technology investments and understanding impacts to revenue, risk, operational efficiency, and customer experience.
Strong people leadership skills with demonstrated success in building teams, coaching leaders, succession planning, and talent development.
Experience within Financial Services, Banking, Wealth Management, Commercial Banking, or Institutional Banking environments preferred.
Location expectations
This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $170,255.00 - $200,300.00U.S. Bank will consider qualified applicants with arrest or conviction records for employment.
