Foundations Enablement – HR Technology Project Manager, US
Location: Detroit, Michigan — Hybrid (Detroit office)
As the Foundations Enablement Project Manager, US, at General Motors, you will manage HR technology initiatives supporting the US employee experience from planning through hypercare. You will coordinate HR, IT, Operations, and business stakeholders across scope, schedule, risks, dependencies, testing, readiness, and delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning, Execution & Delivery
- Develop and maintain project plans covering requirements, design, testing, deployment, hypercare, deliverables, owners, and due dates.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Drive execution, manage milestones, conduct reviews, and remove blockers.
- Document and track project decisions, assumptions, and action items through completion.
- Deliver projects in alignment with established agile and enterprise project management practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Communication
- Partner with HR, IT, People Services, business stakeholders, and external partners to define scope, outcomes, and success measures.
- Facilitate working sessions, status meetings, and decision forums; align business and technical teams, resolve conflicting priorities, and document outcomes.
- Provide clear, timely communication on decisions, next steps, and key changes.
Risk, Issue & Dependency Management
- Identify, assess, track, and drive mitigation for project risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies.
- Escalate decisions and delivery concerns with clear options, impacts, and recommendations.
Project Reporting & Governance
- Monitor project status, consolidate workstream reports, and report on milestones, risks, dependencies, decisions, and ownership.
- Maintain governance routines, status artifacts, and stakeholder-ready updates.
Testing, Readiness & Adoption
- Coordinate test planning, user acceptance testing, defect management, readiness reviews, cutover, and hypercare activities.
- Support change management, communications, training, and operational readiness through transition to operational ownership.
- Complete and document project deliverables and operational handoffs.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Coordinate HR technology vendors and delivery partners to support timely, high-quality outcomes.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve issues and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements, Deliverables & Resource Management
- Manage business requirements from identification through documentation, traceability, and delivery.
- Coordinate and support documentation of complex business processes to inform scope, design, and implementation decisions.
- Coordinate input and approval of project design and decision documents.
- Track business resources and identify shortages, constraints, or capacity risks early.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience delivering projects within enterprise-level organizations.
- Proven experience managing cross-functional projects from planning through implementation and operational handoff.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, timelines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Demonstrated success working in an agile or hybrid project delivery environment.
- Solid understanding of HR processes, technology implementations, and business change impacts.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence and emerging HR technology trends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, or similar).
- Proficiency with Workday and ServiceNow.
- Experience delivering HR technology projects across areas such as onboarding, offboarding, benefits, compensation, HCM, learning, and recruitment.
