Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a highly skilled Payload System Engineer (Expert) in El Segundo, California, with extensive experience with SIGINT systems to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of advanced systems for various airborne and space missions.  This role requires a deep understanding of SIGINT sensor technologies, data processing, system operation, mission requirements and SIGINT system architecture.

 

Position Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and development of SIGINT systems, ensuring compliance with mission requirements and specifications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sensor and data processing systems
• Conduct performance analysis and testing of system, including environmental testing and data validation
• Develop documentation related to design, testing, and operational procedures
• Stay current with advancements in SIGINT systems and recommend improvements to existing systems
• Participate in project planning, risk assessment, and management activities
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and team members

 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

 

This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.

This worksite participates in Boeing’s 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.

 

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Typically, 20 or more years' related work experience

• Experience in design, integration, and testing of SIGINT systems
• Extensive experience with sensor technologies, data acquisition, and data processing techniques
• Experience with communication systems and data transmission protocols
• Experience with software tools for simulation and modeling of sensor systems

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics; Master’s degree

• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

 

Summary pay range: $ 210,800 – $ 285,200
