Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy, prioritization, enhancement, and ongoing management of internally developed systems supporting the Commercial Real Estate (CRE) business line. This is a senior-level product management and people leadership role responsible for a team of individual contributors and for partnering closely with business stakeholders and technology teams to deliver system enhancements that support business objectives, workflow efficiency, and data and analytics capabilities.
The role will have primary product ownership responsibility for two internally developed platforms: LPX, a workflow system supporting the Commercial Mortgage business and its multifamily lending activities, and the CRE Data Repository, which centralizes information from systems of record and ancillary systems to support business data and analytics needs. For these two platforms the senior product manager owns business priorities, product roadmaps, requirements, and acceptance criteria; and partners with technology leaders on technical design, delivery planning, release readiness, and ongoing application support.
This position is well suited for an experienced product or project leader who enjoys operating at the intersection of business, technology, data, and process improvement. The individual should possess the systems and technical understanding and excellent communication skills necessary to effectively partner with engineering teams and business line stakeholders, understand technical dependencies, establish priorities, coordinate testing, and successfully implement enhancements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and product ownership for internally developed CRE applications, including LPX and the CRE Data Repository.
- Establish and continually refine product vision, strategy, priorities, and roadmaps based on business needs and organizational objectives.
- Gather and evaluate enhancement requests from business stakeholders and determine priorities based on business value, dependencies, risk, available resources, and strategic objectives.
- Translate business needs and product strategy into prioritized features, epics, requirements, and actionable work.
- Manage product backlogs and priorities within an Agile development environment, including approximately two-week sprint cycles.
- Partner closely with technology and engineering teams responsible for designing and implementing technical changes.
- Serve as a bridge between business users and technology teams, ensuring business requirements and priorities are clearly understood throughout the development lifecycle.
- Understand system architecture, integrations, data dependencies, technical capabilities, and modernization needs sufficiently to identify risks and support informed product decisions.
- Coordinate business testing and user acceptance testing as enhancements move through development and test environments.
- Lead implementation and change-management activities to support adoption of new functionality and system enhancements.
- Identify, analyze, and interpret business and product data to support prioritization, decision-making, performance measurement, and continuous improvement.
- Define product outcomes and appropriate objectives, key results, and performance measures.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows, processes, technology, and the use of data across the CRE business.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of assigned products and systems, including ongoing enhancement, technical dependencies, risk considerations, and modernization needs.
- Build strong cross-functional partnerships across CRE, technology, data and analytics, risk, and other supporting functions.
- Lead, develop, and support a team of three individual contributors (business analysts and product managers) while creating clear priorities and accountability for product-related work.
- Balance strategic product leadership with hands-on oversight of prioritization, delivery, testing, implementation, and ongoing system support.
Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years product management experience
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Three or more years of people management experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.
- Demonstrated product roadmap and backlog ownership
- Experience partnering with technical engineering to deliver system enhancements
- Demonstrated experience establishing priorities and managing competing business requirements through development and implementation.
- Experience partnering with technology or engineering teams throughout the software or systems development lifecycle.
- Experience working within Agile development environments.
- Strong ability to communicate across technical and nontechnical audiences and translate business needs into actionable technology priorities.
- Experience managing or enhancing internally developed applications, platforms, or workflow systems.
- Experience developing and managing product roadmaps, backlogs, features, epics, and enhancement priorities.
- Working knowledge of Jira.
- Experience coordinating user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation, and change management.
- General knowledge of databases, data repositories, system integrations, software architecture, and technical dependencies.
- Experience working with data and analytics platforms or initiatives.
- Ability to understand technical concepts and communicate effectively with engineering teams without requiring hands-on software development or coding expertise.
- Experience defining and using objectives, key results, KPIs, business metrics, or other measures to evaluate product outcomes and inform priorities.
- Strong cross-functional leadership, stakeholder-management, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Commercial Real Estate, commercial banking, financial services, or lending experience is preferred but not required.
