THE ROLE

The Senior Technical Program Manager role sits within the broader Product Cybersecurity organization at General Motors and helps the team scale its impact through disciplined program management, measurable maturity, and strong internal customer partnerships. The role connects cybersecurity strategy to execution by improving program health, coordinating complex initiatives, and helping leaders deliver effective services to the teams we support.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own product cybersecurity frameworks and maturity models, using them to assess program health, identify material gaps, and prioritize improvement
  • Coordinate high-value initiatives that require technical analysis, stakeholder alignment, dependency management, and disciplined execution
  • Partner with Product Cybersecurity leaders to design, package, and deliver services to internal customers with a consulting mindset
  • Define and track KPIs that show whether programs are healthy, performant, and delivering expected outcomes
  • Translate complex technical and organizational information into clear plans, decisions, executive updates, and actionable recommendations
  • Establish practical workflows, operating rhythms, and governance mechanisms that improve prioritization, visibility, and delivery
  • Build a strong network of technical program managers to simplify partnership across shared priorities and critical focus areas

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of experience in roles directly within a cybersecurity team or at a cybersecurity company
  • Demonstrated experience in technical program management, consulting, deployment engineering, security engineering, or a related role
  • Experience implementing cybersecurity frameworks and maturity models, such as NIST CSF, BSIMM, or comparable approaches
  • Comfortable coordinating complex initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups in a matrixed organization
  • Knowledge of modern project and program management methodologies, workflows, and tooling, including Jira, Git, or comparable platforms used by engineering teams
  • Strong communication, judgment, and execution skills, with the ability to create structure and drive measurable outcomes through ambiguity

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in automotive, embedded, connected-product, software-defined vehicle, or other complex product environments
  • Experience delivering cybersecurity services through an internal consulting or service-delivery model
  • Experience defining operational metrics, dashboards, or other mechanisms for measuring program health and performance
  • Understanding of how to use AI to improve the quality, speed, and efficiency of high-fidelity work production
  • Prior hands-on experience in cybersecurity and/or formal education in a related field of study
  • Experience working with technical delivery organizations and adapting quickly through self-study, research, and experimentation

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

  • A clear focus on providing exceptional experiences for internal customers
  • The ability to build trust quickly through proactive outreach, effective networking, and dependable partnership
  • A practical approach to unblocking others, bringing order to chaos, and making difficult work simple
  • A commitment to making the team 1% better every day through small changes with meaningful impact
  • Strong judgment, follow-through, and collaboration when priorities shift or information is incomplete
