The primary purpose of this position is to ensure accomplishment of timely studies and analysis to support Department of Air Force leaders and warfighters decisions regarding the current, near-term and strategic application and effects of air and space power. This is an Interdisciplinary position. Upon selection, the hiring manager may choose to place the selectee into the series they are best qualified.
Duties
The incumbent will ensure accomplishment of timely studies and analysis to support DAF leaders' and warfighters' decisions regarding the current, near-term, and strategic application and effects of air and space power, and the DAF's readiness to execute operational plans in areas such as: nuclear and cyberspace analysis; warfighting and combat operations analysis; independent mission- and campaign-level analysis of current, near-term, and strategic programs, plans, and operations to support operational and contingency plan development in a joint and/or coalition environment; and engagement in OSW/Joint Staff operational availability studies and Strategic Portfolio Reviews, worldwide basing options analyses, homeland security assessments, COCOM support analysis, mobility capabilities studies, operational plan risk assessments, and warfighter reach-back analysis.
Qualifications and evaluation

Failure to meet any one of the Mandatory Technical or Executive Core Qualifications standards will eliminate a candidate from further consideration. Candidates will be evaluated for this position by a screening panel composed of senior executives and/or general officers selected for organizational and/or functional backgrounds relevant to this position. The panel discusses each application and reaches consensus as to the Best Qualified, Qualified or Not Qualified candidates. Only the Best Qualified candidates will be interviewed. The panel will then make a recommendation of those Best Qualified candidates who should be referred to the selecting official, in priority order. Final selection is contingent upon the Air Force Executive Resources Board, the Under Secretary of the Air Force and OPM Quality Review Board (QRB) Certification. Education
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is desired. A master's or advanced degree from an accredited institution in operations research, data analytics, engineering or economics is highly desired.
