Morgan Stanley Investment Research is one of the financial industry's dominant thought leaders in equity and fixed-income investing. Our teams collaborate to assist Morgan Stanley clients with investment decisions, using cash and derivative instruments across major asset classes and geographies.

Role

The Global Macro Strategy team is seeking an FX strategist to join the team in New York to focus on developed currency markets. The analyst would be part of the global currency team, working alongside colleagues in DM and EM fixed income. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the firm’s views on developed market currencies, with a particular emphasis on the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The analyst will be able to take part in all aspects of the research production – from idea generation, data analysis, report writing and then promoting to clients. The role will also involve maintenance and development of the various analytical tools and models produced by the team for clients. The analyst can expect to learn from and work with senior members of the team on specific projects, the results of which are published and sent out to clients.

Skills

- You have a strong academic background with a degree in a business related field, or equivalent

- A strong interest in global macro is a critical pre-requisite for the role, including both Macro Economics and Global Markets.

- Previous work experience in FX and understanding of Interest Rate markets is essential

- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and interact effectively with other research teams across the firm

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 

- Statistical and quantitative skills with a background in Microsoft Excel or any statistical package.

- Ability to demonstrate competence with numerical concepts and tools

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $110,000 and $125,000 per year for Analyst, and between $150,000 and $200,000 per year for Associate, at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
