Job Description

We are seeking a process development scientist to join the messenger-RNA (mRNA) process development team. The successful candidate will be contributing to early and operational tech development.  In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for production and analysis of RNA constructs and carrying out preparative and purification chromatography.

  • Perform in vitro transcription (IVT) and purification (chromatography, tangential flow filtration) experiments.
  • Perform analytical methods including but not limited to capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), Akta chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
  • Process the data and provide data summaries to team members and key stakeholders.
  • Prepare buffers, reagents, and stock solutions used for process development activities, following established recipes and SOPs.
  • Maintain an updated lab notebook, order materials, maintain lab equipment, and support equipment troubleshooting as needed.
  • Uphold lab safety to the highest level of standards.

Qualifications

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry (or related field) with 1+ years of relevant laboratory experience, or M.S. degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or biochemistry (or related field) with at least 6 months of relevant laboratory experience.
  • Experience with molecular biology and RNA biochemistry methods including IVT
  • Experience with tangential flow filtration (TFF), capillary gel electrophoresis (CGE), Akta chromatography, HPLC, and ELISA.
  • Experience with good documentation practices and electronic lab notebooks such as Benchling.
  • Unwavering commitment to safety protocols and procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, work planning, data analysis, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow SOPs, and comply with company policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, inquisitive, self-motivated, and enthusiasm to learn and contribute in a fast-paced environment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience developing processes for RNA-LNP, protein, mAB, or AAV therapeutics or vaccines (experience with RNA therapeutics is preferred).

Position is Full Time, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm. Candidates currently living within a commutable distance of Boston, MA are encouraged to apply.
