Job Title: Community Relations & Events Manager

Employment Type: Full-Time / Salary / Exempt

Goodwill Southwest Florida is seeking a Community Relations & Events Manager to lead community outreach, volunteer engagement, event planning, and social media initiatives that connect individuals, businesses, and organizations to Goodwill's mission. The Community Relations & Events Manager is responsible for growing volunteer participation, building community partnerships, coordinating events, creating engaging content, and increasing public awareness of Goodwill's programs, services, and community impact.

  Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development, implementation, and growth of Goodwill Southwest Florida's volunteer engagement program.
  • Develop and manage processes for volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, communication, recognition, and stewardship in collaboration with departments across the organization.
  • Identify meaningful volunteer opportunities and build relationships with individual volunteers, businesses, schools, civic organizations, and community groups.
  • Coordinate and oversee volunteer participation for programs, events, special projects, and community initiatives.
  • Track volunteer participation and impact metrics and develop strategies to strengthen volunteer retention and long-term engagement.
  • Support the planning, promotion, coordination, and execution of organizational and community events.
  • Manage event registration, attendee communications, volunteer assignments, and participant engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for community outreach, partnerships, presentations, and organizational representation within the community.
  • Support signature events, program celebrations, volunteer activities, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Manage organizational social media platforms and maintain content calendars.
  • Create written, photographic, and video content that highlights Goodwill's people, programs, partners, events, and community impact.
  • Develop and share stories that connect volunteerism and community involvement to Goodwill's mission.
  • Support digital campaigns that increase awareness, participation, volunteer engagement, and event attendance.
  • Monitor audience engagement, social media performance, and content effectiveness and recommend opportunities for improvement.
  • Maintain organizational photo, video, and content libraries.
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and applicable federal and state laws.
  • Maintain reliable transportation and travel throughout the community as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Community Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Three years of experience in community engagement, volunteer management, nonprofit outreach, communications, events, public relations, or a related field.
  • Volunteer recruitment, coordination, or program development experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Knowledge of volunteer management, community outreach, event coordination, social media management, and content creation.
  • Strong storytelling and written communication skills.
  • Photography and basic video creation skills preferred.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events and community activities.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required.
