The Sophomore Career Exploration Internship gives undergraduate sophomores the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at a unique institution. Through dynamic, project-based work assignments and professional development activities, students get:Ā

Sophomore interns work in one specific business area or function forĀ tenĀ weeks, andĀ have access to opportunities for collaboration with other students and employees from around the Bank.Ā Ā

Our Unique Work:Ā
The Legal and Compliance GroupĀ comprisesĀ of 3Ā separate and distinct Functions: Compliance, Group Operations and Strategy, and Legal. Internships will be available in the:Ā
Compliance Function:Ā IdentifiesĀ and assesses risks related to the failure toĀ comply withĀ the Bank's code of conduct, internal policies, and regulations principally associated with anti-Ā money laundering, U.S. economic sanctions compliance, fraud risk, sensitive data management, trading operations, and other restrictions related to employee conduct.Ā
Group Operations and Strategy Function: Provides the Legal & Compliance Group with resources and strategies in furtherance of group and BankĀ objectivesĀ through its threeĀ business units: Business Operations and Strategy, GOAS Prime Services, and Risk Management and Contingency Planning.Ā
Legal Function: Provides effective,Ā efficientĀ and client-focused legal services to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. The Enterprise Legal Services (ELS) divisionĀ providesĀ a range ofĀ expertiseĀ in support of the Bankās mission and operations through its four business units: Enforcement and Litigation, Financial Intelligence and Investigations, Employment and Corporate Matters, and Technology and Contracts.Ā

HowĀ YouāllĀ Make an Impact as a Legal & Compliance Intern (Sophomore)Ā
Contribute to the execution of various activities that support Legal & Compliance Group projects and programs which may include:Ā
Document Review and Analysis (assistanceĀ with review of documentsĀ maintainedĀ within the Division toĀ determineĀ whether they should beĀ maintainedĀ or destroyedĀ in accordance withĀ Records Management Policy);Ā
Review of agreements/contracts (review compiled agreements and discuss relevant provisions);Ā Ā
Case Law Update (review summary document of cases and descriptions; confirm each case has not been overturned); andĀ Ā
Drive initiatives to meet business goals and implement operational efficiencies.Ā
Ā
The Unique Skill SetsĀ WeāreĀ Looking For:Ā
A demonstrated interest in finance, accounting, economics, capital markets, business, ethics and compliance, or operational management with a strong academic record andĀ passion for data analysis.Ā
High interest in Finance, Banking, or Economics, with a strong academic record and a passion for public service.Ā
Detail oriented with excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Acrobat.Ā
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment

Salary Range:Ā Your regular wages for the 10 weeks will be paid on a semi-monthly basis and will be calculated based on an annual salary ofĀ $65,600Ā

This position requires access to confidential supervisory information (CSI) and/or Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) information. Access to CSI and FOMC information is limited to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, individuals who meet the definition of āprotected individualā under 8 U.S.C. § 1324b(a)(3), and certain other nonimmigrants. All non-U.S. citizens authorized to access CSI and/or FOMC information must sign a declaration of intent to expeditiously become a lawful permanent resident and thereafter a U.S. citizen when eligible.āÆāÆĀ
