Summary

The VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare (VAGLAHS) is seeking highly skilled/experienced Registered Nurse as our Off Tour Supervisor (OTS). The OTS demonstrates leadership, and creative approaches in leading and improving the delivery of holistic care through collaborative strategies. The OTS directs care for adult and geriatric patients and their significant others across the care continuum, taking into consideration diagnoses and physical, psychosocial, spiritual, and cultural needs.

Duties

Current, permanent GLA employees will be given the first consideration. Must submit most recent SF-50 to receive 1st consideration. Typical duties include but are not limited to: Monitor off-tour nursing staff to identify and share resources. Performs other duties as required by Nurse Manager, Chief Nurse and Associated Director for Patient Care. Maintain BLS and ACLS certification Administratively responsible to the Nurse Manager and collaborates with other supervisory personnel. Additional duties will include: providing education/in-services to off-tour staff and membership on hospital/nursing committees. Ensure compliance with Medical Center policies and procedures. Work closely with the Administrative Officer on Duty (AOD). Collect data for quality improvement and prepare reports as required. Address any problems with staff, patients, and/or family members. Coordinate all admissions & hospital flow during their tour. Respond to Codes and RRTs in the Medical Center. Obtain supplies as needed and/or direct staff where items are located. Assists in the coordination of patient admissions, discharges and transfers within or out of the facility. Conduct rounds from ward to ward in all areas throughout the Medical Center and Sepulveda campus. Must be able to communicate effectively to appropriate personnel regarding emergency situations. Must possess ability and willingness to work harmoniously with professional and non-professional personnel. Must be knowledgeable in the Privacy Rule and ensure all staff comply with facility privacy practices policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable of nursing and medical practices and procedures, as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to patient care. Serves as the representative of Nursing Leadership during non-administrative hours. Works effectively with nursing and staff from other departments as well as the community to support the VA mission and goals of the medical center for efficient veterans-centered care. Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action. Take and record call-ins and adjust staffing to maintain patient safety. Monitor off-tour staffing to identify and share resources. Supervises direct care for adult and geriatric patients and their significant others across the care continuum, taking into consideration diagnoses and physical, psychosocial, spiritual and cultural needs. Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Intermittent; Shifts will be assigned on an "as needed" basis and could include the following tours: 12-hr Day Shift and 12-hr Night Shift (including weekends, holidays rotation). Requirements

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
