What You’ll Work On

As an R&D Clinical Engineer II at our Plymouth, MN location, you will support the Electrophysiology Portfolio with a focus on technology development and clinical translation. This role will serve as a contributor supporting key initiatives, working closely with physicians, systems engineers, software engineers, and clinical teams to evaluate safety and efficacy, and generate evidence that informs product development decisions. 

You will leverage clinical and engineering knowledge to support product design, verification and validation activities, preclinical and clinical research, and data-driven decision-making throughout the development lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

• Support development and evaluation of key therapy algorithms and ablation technologies.

• Design, execute, and analyze bench, preclinical, and clinical studies supporting product development milestones.

• Develop study protocols, data collection methods, and analysis plans to evaluate therapy performance and safety.

• Analyze large datasets from preclinical and clinical studies and communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders.

• Collaborate with physicians, clinical specialists, systems engineers, software engineers, and regulatory teams to define clinical and technical requirements.

• Support development of design verification and validation strategies for new ablation technologies.

• Summarize study outcomes through technical reports, presentations, and regulatory documentation.

• Support risk management activities, hazard analyses, and clinical risk assessments.

• Participate in physician interactions, usability evaluations, and clinical observations to inform product development.

• Provide technical and clinical expertise during design reviews and cross-functional project meetings.

• Gain and maintain knowledge of EP procedures, cardiac electrophysiology principles, and emerging ablation technologies.

• Comply with FDA regulations, ISO standards, company policies, operating procedures, and quality system requirements.

• Maintain positive and cooperative communications with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, vendors, and healthcare professionals.

• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Biological Sciences, Medical/Clinical Sciences, or related technical discipline.

• 2+ years of engineering, clinical research, medical device, or related experience.

• Strong understanding of scientific methods, experimental design, and data analysis techniques.

• Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, analyze, and document technical or clinical studies.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to diverse audiences.

• Experience working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Ability to interpret technical and clinical data to support engineering decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.

• Experience in electrophysiology, cardiac rhythm management, cardiovascular devices, or related medical device technologies. 

• Knowledge of cardiac electrophysiology principles and ablation therapies.

• Experience working with signal processing, physiologic data analysis, or algorithm development.

• Experience supporting verification, validation, preclinical, or clinical studies.

• Familiarity with PFA technology, cardiac mapping systems, or EP laboratory procedures.

• Experience with statistical analysis software and data visualization tools.

• Experience working within FDA-regulated and ISO-compliant medical device environments.

• Experience with requirements management and electronic document control systems (e.g., Windchill).

• Experience working within cross-functional, matrixed organizations.

The base pay for this position is

$61,300.00 – $122,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
