Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.
Duties
Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) staff psychologists serve within Psychology Service of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. In this capacity, incumbents offer treatment in the form of individual therapy, couple and family psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, psychological assessment, and provide consultation to other members of the team. Licensed Staff Psychologists practice at the Full Performance Level. In addition to observance of Federal national and local regulatory, policy, and accreditation requirements governing this Health Care System, this position encompasses following examples of responsibilities. Psychologists require appropriate time mapping and resources to ensure they are empowered to meet expected proficiencies in administration, clinical practice, education, and research. Typical duties include, but are not limited to: Clinical Responsibilities (80% - 100% of the time) Provides a full range of diagnostic and evaluation services for patients Performs psychological evaluations for individuals with mental health and medical disorders for purposes of diagnostic clarification and treatment planning recommendations Provides a full range of psychological interventions consistent with training and expertise Provides consultation services and serves as a resource for other professional personnel May be asked to assist in the selection, training, and supervision of staff at lower grades within assigned program area, Psychology Service, or STVHCS Academic/Teaching/Research (0% - 10% of the time) Provides consultation and training in the identification and management of common mental and behavioral health disorders May serve as a clinical supervisor to psychology pre-doctoral interns, post-doctoral fellows, and doctoral-level practicum students in psychology and other disciplines Prepares and teaches seminars/workshops on topics within interest/competency areas Conducts approved psychological research alone or in collaboration with other professionals or affiliated academic institutions May apply for a faculty appointment at the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, Texas Administrative/Program Evaluation/Outcome Measurement/Research Responsibilities (0% - 10% of the time) May have limited clinical program management responsibilities Liaisons with other health care programs in STVHCS in order to effectively coordinate services Ensures compliance with all Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS) documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation and proper patient check out procedures (e.g., entering diagnostic and procedure codes). Learn more Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade). Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience. Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child. Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66. Requirements
You must be a U.S. Citizen to apply for this job.
