Duties

The Veterans Health Administration is seeking a part-time Gynecologist to join the team at the Cape Girardeau VA Health Care Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. As a VA Gynecologist, you will provide comprehensive gynecologic care to women Veterans, including evaluation and treatment, gynecologic procedures, surgical assessment and follow-up, and support of the facility's Women's Health program. You will work alongside a collaborative multidisciplinary team focused on high-quality, patient-centered care. Recruitment/Relocation Incentives (Sign-on Bonus): Eligible Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: Annual leave (1 hour for every 10 hours worked); Federal holidays (Part-time employees are entitled to federal holidays that fall on days employees would otherwise ie required to work or take leave. This does not include overtime work.); Sick leave (1 hour for every 20 hours worked) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting The Gynecologist is responsible for assuring the most effective delivery of gynecological care while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. The Gynecologist will provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Women's Health Clinic as well as perform minor procedures as appropriate. In this role, the incumbent will also provide feedback and patient education to the patients and their families and will demonstrate excellence in all facets of patient care and meets or exceeds compliance standards. Privileges include being able to admit, work up, diagnose, and provide treatment to patients presenting with all gynecological conditions. The physician must be skilled in the evaluation and treatment of a gynecological conditions as licensed. The physician must perform a physical examination and gynecological procedures as appropriate in the outpatient clinic. Provides superivision, guidance and oversight of advanced practice nurses and physician assistants as required. Supports, advises, and provides education on the Women's Health programs. Work Schedule: 20 hours per week- 8-10 hour shift between the hours of 0700-1700 M-F (negotiable after selection)
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP). You may be required to serve a probationary period. Education
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from an institution whose accreditation was in place for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are: Schools of medicine accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) for the year in which the degree was granted. Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation (COCA) for the year in which the degree was granted. For foreign medical graduates not covered in (1) or (2) above, confirmation must be made that the medical school meets (or met) Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) eligibility requirement for year graduated. NOTE: The Under Secretary of Health or designee in the VHA Central Office may approve the appointment under authority of 38 U.S.C. 7405 of a physician graduate of a school of medicine not covered above if the candidate is to be assigned to a research, academic, or administrative position with no patient care responsibilities. The appointment will be made only in exceptional circumstances where the candidate's credentials clearly demonstrate high professional attainment or expertise in the specialty area.
