2027 Summer Intern: Engineering Intern

As our global footprint continues to spread across the world, we are looking for Engineering Interns to join our team in Northbrook, IL, Auburn Hills, MI and Melville, NY.

This role is hybrid - 3 days a week on-site at the Northbrook or Melville Office.

Responsibilities

As an Engineering Intern you will work within one of the following operating units. 

Built Environment (BE) 

Our buildings don’t just shape our skylines — they provide the backdrop to our lives. And knowing they’re safe matters. Research & Development (R&D)
Want to work on the problems nobody has solved yet? The UL Solutions R&D team sits at the intersection of science, engineering and innovation. We partner with every business across UL Solutions to investigate emerging technologies, develop new safety methodologies and answer the toughest technical questions facing industry today.

From fire equipment testing, and battery safety to mechanical and electrical systems, hardware-in-the-loop, and custom-built test equipment, our projects span disciplines and industries. Interns gain exposure to real-world research, advanced laboratories, simulation tools and multidisciplinary teams that are shaping future standards, products and technologies. If you're curious, hands-on and excited by solving complex engineering problems, R&D offers a chance to work on projects that help define what safer innovation looks like tomorrow

Qualifications

What makes you a great fit:

• Rising senior currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in: Civil / Chemical / Electrical / Mechanical / Textile Engineering, Chemistry, Fire Safety or related major
• Highly motivated self-starter
• Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Must have indefinite right to work in the United States.

What we offer:

Total Rewards: The hourly rate for this role is $27.00. Qualified candidates may be eligible for a sign-on bonus to assist with housing, travel, and other relocation expenses, subject to terms and conditions. Your internship will consist of a 10-12 week long project, networking, learning & development opportunities, and will provide you with the opportunity to make a real world impact.
