What are we looking for?

TheĀ Associate Engineer (2nd Shift)Ā is responsible for conducting testing in support of HVAC product evaluation. Duties range from setting up the equipment under test (EUT) to conducting and reporting test results. This position will travel up to 5%.Ā 

Shift/Schedule: This position will be scheduled to work during 2nd shift. Training for the role will occur during 1st shift. Once trained, individual will assume 2nd shift responsibilities.

What you’ll do:

Under the guidance of a more senior engineer:

  • Conduct on and off site evaluation of products to determine compliance with applicable standard(s).Ā 
  • Read and determine applicability of national codes and standards clauses for the EUT (equipment under test).
  • Read and understand schematics and manufacturing instructions.
  • Validate the project scope and sample applicability.
  • Under scope of the project, identify and locate test instruments and equipment required for testing.
  • Follow established test plan.
  • Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed.
  • Conduct thorough construction review; document results.
  • Perform testing of products in accordance with standards.
  • Identify, set up, and operate standard test equipment.
  • Work under the direction of senior engineering staff to diagnose failures during tests and explore other options for testing.Ā 
  • Following sample handling procedures, ensure that sample is logged into and out of the system.Ā 
  • Move equipment as needed through the facility. Properly package sample for shipment.Ā 
  • Under direction of a more senior engineer, manage less complex projects utilizing the resources available.Ā 
  • Compile test results during construction review and testing. Compile data and product description and type final report using established report shell. Submit report to reviewer for final approval.Ā 
  • Communicate project status and test results to client, sales personnel, and management throughout testing. Provide on-going support to clients as needed.Ā

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work Full Time, 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday 4:00pm until 1:00am
  • Associate’s degree in engineering or the equivalent in terms of experience and training
  • 1+ years of directly related experience

  • Be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at workĀ 
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities and demanding deadlines
  • Ability to use basic shop equipment and various hand tools
  • Ability to review, understand, and convey technical information in an effective manner
  • Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out simple one or two step instructions
  • Must be detailed-oriented and able to effectively prioritize and organize workload, with efficient time managementĀ 
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal written and presentation formats
  • Must be customer focused and quality driven
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs.Ā 
  • Ability to sit and stand prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to travel, up to 5%

Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of direct experience
  • Project management experience
  • Electrical/electronic experience or training
  • Working knowledge in electrical circuit design/analysis principles
  • Experience with product safety standards; (ANSI, CSA, UL, EN, IEC, etc.)
