Job Overview

The Superintendent I (Area) role at Skanska USA Building is responsible for leading field operations within assigned project areas, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, profitably, and in alignment with contract documents, design, budget, and schedule. This position directly supervises field labor and Assistant Superintendents, with a strong emphasis on on-site presence, coordination, and real-time leadership in production, safety, and supervisory meetings.

 

The role requires a solid construction management background, including a bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience, plus relevant leadership experience on fit-out projects or specific areas of larger building projects. Key experience includes safety and QAQC leadership, subcontractor oversight, schedule updates, change order and ticket management, and interpreting plans and specifications. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with tools and systems such as Procore, Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, OPC and JD Edwards.

 

This position also demands strong competency in contract management, risk management, logistics, quality control, project cost management, schedule ownership, and subcontractor oversight. The Superintendent is expected to coach others, maintain work-site harmony, support business development in the field, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards. Overall, the role combines operational leadership, technical construction knowledge, and people management to keep projects running efficiently and successfully.
