SUPERVISORY MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT

Summary

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a SUPERVISORY MAINTENANCE TEST PILOT, Position Description Number D0614000 and is part of the ID AASF, National Guard. THIS POSITION IS PERMANENT.

Duties

(1) Performs maintenance operational checks (MOC)and limited and general test flights of aircraft to ensure airworthiness upon completionof extensive disassembly for maintenance, repair, replacement or modification of components or aircraft systems.Performs general or limited test flights including test flights of aircraft when ground diagnostic tests cannot determine the safe and/or properfunctioning of aircraft components or systems.Performs acceptance test flights of new aircraft when required. Assignments may include instruction to and evaluation of maintenance testpilots. (2) Plans and directs the quality control management program of the AASF. Does immediate and long-range planning for all matterspertaining to quality control at the facility. Plans and establishes quality control operations and procedures for the application of ModificationWork Orders (MWO) and Technical Bulletins (TBs) and assures that instructions are followed on all the aircraft supported by the installation.Answers correspondence, prepares reports and furnishes advice and assistance pertaining to quality control matters to supervisors, shopforemen and othermembers of the organization. Ensures that Quality Deficiency Reports (QDRs) are initiated and forwarded when equipment fails,deficiencies are discovered in newly received equipment or equipment improvements are proposed. Serves as point of contact for the AASFin communications between the facility and the labs in the Army Oil Analysis Program (AOAP) and oversees the local aspects of theprogram. Inspects shop facilities, management practices , fire prevention plans, ventilation systems, lighting systems and aircraft andequipment records to assure proper shop and flight-line safety for personnel and equipment in the maintenance area of operations. Advisesand makes recommendations to the Facility Commander on quality control matters. (3) Exercises supervisory responsibility over 3 to 8 subordinate workers engaged in technical inspection of the aircraft.Accomplishes performance ratings, authorizes and approves leave requests for assigned personnel. Interviews and recommendsapplicants for vacant positions within area of responsibility and orientates new employees. Informs subordinates on features of personnelmanagement and employee relations such as the appeal and grievance rights and basis for position classification actions.Exercises overall technical responsibility for the performance of subordinate workers in such endeavors as precision measuring and testequipment calibration and certification, maintenance of the technical publications library, taking samples for the AOAP, inspection of aircraftmaintenance work for conformance to established quality standards, and conducting tear-down inspection to determine causes ofdeficiencies. (4) Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

Applicants must possess the following education and certification(s): GS-10 through GS-13 Army National Guard Warrant Officer Positions Must have a high school diploma or general education development (GED) diploma. An undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs or must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. Must be Qualified UH-60M Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP). GS-12 through GS-13 Army National Guard Officer Positions For Army National Guard Second and First Lieutenants must be actively pursuing an under- graduate degree with at least 90 validated credit hours in a specified program. For Captains and above, must have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college/university. A Graduate Degree from an accredited civilian academic college or from an equivalent professional military education school is optimum. Must have Federal Aviation Administration certifications awarded from accredited civilian aviation programs OR must have aviation certifications from accredited military aviation schools. Must be Qualified UH-60M Maintenance Test Pilot (MTP). You MUST provide transcripts, license or other documentation to support your certification claims. Basic education claims will be considered to be met IF conditions of rank requirement is met as well. There are no additional educational requirements for this position.
