Duties
As a Fire Protection Inspector, you will perform the following duties: Perform comprehensive inspections of various buildings, high-hazard facilities, and operations to ensure compliance with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) codes, Army regulations, and local procedures. Review architectural drawings, specifications, and project plans for new construction and facility alterations to evaluate the technical adequacy of fire protection and life safety features. Develop, coordinate, and conduct fire safety education, prevention training courses, and evacuation drills for military personnel, civilian employees, schools, and specialized facility staff. Identify and develop mitigation plans for hazards involving specialized equipment, flammable materials, explosives, and complex electronic systems, utilizing advanced or innovative hazard isolation methods. Respond to hazardous incidents and emergencies under the Incident Command System, performing operational firefighting duties, apparatus maintenance, and basic medical care as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) during assigned shifts

DoD Certificates and NREMT License: You MUST submit a copy of the following: Must possess and maintain DoD Firefighter Certifications: Fire Inspector I & II Fire Instructor I, Hazardous Material Operations, Firefighter I & II Firefighting and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-Basic or higher) certification from the state of New York or National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). These need to be certified through DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification System, International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC), or the Fire Service Professional Qualifications System (PRO-Board) AND a State or National Registry EMT License . If your application package does not contain proof of having these certificates and license , your application will be marked as incomplete and you WILL NOT receive consideration for this position. Rather than submitting individual DoD certificates, if you have received a Student ID# for the DoD Fire and Emergency Services Certification Program website (https://go.usa.gov/xdsTR) you may provide a copy of your most recent certification transcript. Term Appointment NTE 2 Years - Position may be filled as a Term Appointment NTE 2 Years. Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for Term appointment will be appointed/converted into Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
