Summary

This position is located at US Mint,Manufacturing Directorate - West Point - Production Division, Plant Engineering and Maintenance. As an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC, you will perform installation, maintenance, trouble analysis, rebuilding, overhauling, modifying, aligning and calibrating of integrated electronic equipment, electrical systems (computer, security and fire systems, data lines) and machinery used for numismatic coin production and packaging.

Duties

As an ELECTRONIC INDUSTRIAL CONTROLS MECHANIC, you will: Repair, perform trouble analysis, modify, calibrate, align, program and install new and existing complex systems, i.e. coin presses, burnishers, ultrasonic cleaners and other related equipment, security, fires systems, programmable computers and solid state controls. Trouble analyze electronically controlled circuits using oscilloscopes, multimeters, machine logic programs, computers and specialized test instruments. Rebuild, overhaul, modify, install, maintain and test new and existing complex production and electronic equipment/systems. These systems include but are not limited to: multiple axis numerically controlled machine tools (machining shop), computer/programmable controlled coin presses, internal and external security systems, electronic weighing systems, automated packaging systems, and electronic communication systems. Evaluate circuitry interrelationships, interactions and interconnections of assemblies and systems. Trouble analyzes, rebuilds and overhauls systems, modifying techniques and procedures to specified parameters.

Requirements

All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. You will not automatically convert to permanent status at the end of the probationary (or trial) period. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required. Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency. Have your salary sent to a financial institution of your choice by Direct Deposit/Electronic Funds Transfer. If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so. Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. Shift Work: This facility operates on a 24 hour per day, three-shift basis, 5 days a week. Work schedules may vary and assignment to a specific shift cannot be guaranteed. The successful applicant must be available to work on all three shifts on a rotational basis. May be required to wear safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc. Pass a pre-employment physical examination. Qualifications and evaluation

If qualified, you will be assigned to one of three quality level categories, superior (highest quality category), good (middle quality category), and acceptable (minimally qualified category), depending on your responses to the online questions, regarding your experience, education, and training related to this position. A subject matter expert may be used in the evaluation. Your rating may be lowered if your responses to the online questions are not supported by the education and/or experience described in your application. Veterans' preference is applied after applicants are assessed. Preference-eligibles will be listed at the top of their assigned category and considered before non-preference-eligibles in that category. Qualified preference-eligibles with a compensable service-connected disability of 10% or more will be listed at the top of the highest category.
