Job Description

About GM Energy

GM Energy is building an integrated ecosystem of electric-vehicle charging, vehicle-to-home, vehicle-to-grid, energy-storage, and energy-management products and services.

The Role

The Lead – Warranty owns the end-to-end warranty process for GM Energy products and services. This role evaluates and resolves warranty concerns consistently, efficiently, and accurately. The person connects customer cases, field-service information, product data, supplier performance, cost, and quality or safety signals. The role improves customer experience, product reliability, serviceability, and total cost of ownership while building structure in a growing business.

What You’ll Do

  • Own warranty claims from intake through resolution, including returns material authorizations, repairs, replacements, returns, reimbursements, and goodwill decisions.
  • Establish and apply decision rules for warranty, out-of-warranty, installation-related, customer-caused, and goodwill cases.
  • Coordinate resolution with Customer Care, Technical Support, Installation, Quality, Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, suppliers, and service partners.
  • Maintain traceability across customer cases, product serial numbers, installation records, failed components, suppliers, costs, and final dispositions.
  • Prepare claim evidence and lead supplier reviews, recovery tracking, invoicing, and dispute resolution.
  • Analyze warranty and field-service data to identify failure trends, safety concerns, repeat repairs, cost drivers, and recovery opportunities.
  • Lead performance reviews and improve warranty controls, documentation, dashboards, customer communications, and standard work.

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, quality, operations, supply chain, finance, or a related field; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
  • Three or more years of experience in warranty, aftersales, service operations, quality, supplier management, claims administration, or a related discipline.
  • Experience managing claims, returns material authorizations, repairs, replacements, service, or supplier-recovery processes.
  • Ability to manage and analyze complex datasets using Excel-based tools, including macros, to improve reporting and process efficiency.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional work, influence without direct authority, and hold partners accountable.
  • Ability to work onsite in a hybrid schedule (three days per week) and visit local suppliers as business needs require (up to 10%)

What Can Give You a Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Strong communication, organization, judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong sense of urgency, adaptability, learning agility, and ability to succeed in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Experience in automotive, electric-vehicle charging, energy storage, residential electrical systems, distributed energy resources, or connected products.
  • Experience in Quality, Reliability, and Durability activities or organizations, or with warranty analytics and reporting.
  • Experience with warranty terms, installation or workmanship claims, supplier contracts, service-level agreements, recovery provisions, accruals, reserves, or claim-cost analysis.
  • Experience with the Quality Data & Analytics Platform, warranty IPTV fan charting, Months in Service analysis, prognosis or sufficiency analysis, or supplier invoicing.
  • Experience with Salesforce, OneCRM, warranty-management or returns material authorization systems, enterprise resource planning or logistics platforms, PRTS, Jira, Power BI, or AI-assisted analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, create structure in ambiguity, build strong relationships, and demonstrate commitment to safety, quality, integrity, and customer outcomes.
