The Opportunity
This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Diabetes Care division where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.
Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is seeking a Senior Project Leader to join the Program Management Organization, which is responsible for the development and launch of data sharing features and partner integrations based on the FreeStyle Libre platform, the world's #1 continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) solution. As a leader of data sharing programs, you will bring complex integration projects to market with partners that expand connected users on the Libre ecosystem.
As a Senior Project Leader, this role will manage the internal and external cross-functional teams supporting partnerships. This role acts as the lead interface between ADC and external partners, requiring continuous executive stakeholder management. Senior Project Leaders supporting partnerships are a key element of the ADC PMO organization.
This is an onsite opportunity in Alameda, CA.
What You’ll Work On
- Leads end-to-end program management for features and project initiatives, working closely with functional Project Managers and other Subject Matter Experts from R&D, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, and other functions
- Confirms the ongoing strategic rationale and value proposition for projects
- Maps, monitors, manages dependencies, and reporting of projects -- and able to sequence work to prevent downstream delays
- Synthesizes complex technical detail into a clear, cohesive narrative for leadership, adapting the story and level of detail for each audience
- Owns a portfolio of active initiatives; partners with peer program managers and workstream leads to pull status, balance priorities, surface risks, and keep the portfolio view current and trustworthy
- Establishes and creates a strong collaborative rhythm for project teams that keeps deliverabls on track and accountable to commitments
- Ensures Division-wide thinking and problem-solving are incorporated into project execution.
- Drives for resolution in cross-functional problem solving, communication, and integration
- Liaises with other Project Owners, functional managers, and management to monitor business processes
- Serves as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders (partners, vendors, cross-division) on data sharing initiatives and program status, adapting tone and detail for an external audience
- Operates independently with minimal oversight, exercising sound judgment to navigate ambiguity, make decisions, and keep programs moving without needing direction at every step
- Builds, maintains, and adjusts detailed project plans (milestones, dependencies, resourcing, critical path) as scope and timelines evolve
- Formulates clear asks on what a program needs to leadership, does not hestitate to bring up challenging topics
- Influences peers and functional leads without formal authority to align priorities and unblock delivery
- Identifies process gaps and provide creative solutions in how programs are planned, tracked, or reported, and implements fixes in partnership with stakeholders
- Has the flexibility to quickly adapt and produce in a rapidly changing environment, meeting aggressive deadlines
- Champions PMO best practices to drive better project planning, execution, project prioritization and change management within Commercial Programs
- Establishes and monitors KPIs to assess delivery performance
Accountability / Scope / Budget
- Accountable for the successful, on-time delivery of strategic initiatives
- Highly visible to senior leadership; owns reporting on project and portfolio status and drives alignment on key decisions
- Drives scope, timeline, and resource tradeoffs across the portfolio with other stakeholders
- No direct reports; leads matrixed teams with a high degree of accountability to ensure the team is resourced and adhering to commitments
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to the project or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
- Minimum 8 years of related work experience.
- Has successfully led several high complexity projects from beginning to end.
- Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project.
- Demonstrated expertise in PM tools and processes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or an engineering discipline with 10 years of relevant experience as project manager, ideally in technology or med device industries
- Experience with software development of complex systems
- Experience with product launches and market access
- Strong technical experience in cross-functional program management and team leadership.
- Additional cross-functional experience in the areas of Manufacturing, Operations, Commercial, Clinical, Regulatory, Quality, are desirable.
- Require the ability to collect information from multiple sources, synthesize, integrate, and resolve conflicting requirements and cross-functional issues
- Understand the fundamental solution being developed/deployed - its business value, roadmap, how it fits with the overall strategy or risks
- Require strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work and negotiate with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels of the organization and across companies to align plans and resolve conflict
- Require process-oriented thinking, focused on continuous improvement and lessons learned; have demonstrated ability to define and implement complex and interdependent business processes
- Require strong leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Has general knowledge of regulations and standards related to medical devices (eg. FDA, ISO, QSR design controls)
- Experience with Web applications or App Development Projects/Programs
- Digital Experience in Consumer Tech, Medical Device or Healthcare
- Experience in Medical Health Records and sensitive data processing
- Experience in Project Management tools such as MS Project, Product Board or JIRA
- May required to travel up to 10%

$130,700.00 – $261,300.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
