***This is a Title 5 Excepted Service National Guard Employee position*** This National Guard position is for a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF), Position Description Number T0029P01 and is part of the 108th Wing, New Jersey Air National Guard. The primary purpose of this position is to implement and support integrated prevention programs.

Duties

As a PRIMARY PREVENTION SPECIALIST (PREV WF), GS-0101-11 you will: Serves as the point of contact for harm and abuse prevention programs and activities; provides program coordination and serves as the subject matter expert for the Wing/Region IPP program. Serves as the Primary Prevention Integrator (PPI) managing all aspects of a complex integrated primary prevention program (P3) for the Wing/Region. Supports inter- and intra-personal violence prevention efforts and programming through the Wing/regional leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups. Represents their population's integrated prevention efforts as a member of leadership advisory committees, boards and working groups.. Serves as the Wing/Region liaison for local military and civilian agencies to promote timely information exchange, coordinate collaborative prevention efforts, and establish resource links and community partnerships. Incorporates comprehensive strategies to enhance community strengths, address broad-based community needs, suggest community problem solving methods, and forge community connections. Responsible for developing and overseeing healthy climate, resiliency, risk reduction activities, trainings, and communication campaigns within the Wing/Region. Advises Wing/Region commanders in communicating prevention plans and programs to subordinate units. Recruits, trains, and facilitates military volunteers for prevention activity implementation. Provides technical oversight to service members (DSG/M-Day) within the Wing/Region who are assigned to perform integrated prevention activities at the Unit level. Performs other duties as assigned.

Areas of Consideration: US Citizens Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance. The incumbent of this position description must have at a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to position assignment. Additional Employment Requirements: Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. Qualifications and evaluation

Creative Thinking, Interpersonal Skills, and Planning and Evaluating - Knowledge of Primary Prevention efforts. - Knowledge of social-ecological systems theory. - Knowledge and experience in the organization, management, and administration of programs and services to participate in program planning. - Skill in development and maintenance of public understanding and sound working relationships with local and community agencies. - Skill in applying professional community organization abilities related to the formulation of needs assessments, development of prevention programs, and the marketing of programs. - Knowledge of complex helping systems and professional organizations, how they positively or negatively affect individual and family welfare, and the multiple ways these systems and organizations operate to deliver services. - Excellent skills in oral and written communication to include report writing and maintaining proper records to document services provided. - Knowledge of and skill in planning, conducting and evaluating Primary Prevention training programs. - Knowledge of the regulations, policies, and precedents that are used for developing the action plans to implement approved prevention strategies. - Ability to plan and adequately support the needs of National Guard members by determining what the future needs of the Service Member are through the interpretation and analysis of studies, and trends. - Knowledge of policies and requirements for the development and analysis of the prevention programs efforts in order to integrate effective prevention measures. - Knowledge of automated data systems to maintain information. - Knowledge of analytical techniques to identify, analyze and/or recommend solutions to problems encountered and to develop statistical data and narrative reports.

Education

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Degree: Behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field that included at least 24 semester hours of course work in the behavioral or social sciences. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. You must provide transcripts or other documentation to support your educational claims. To receive credit for education, you must provide the proper documentation as proof of meeting the educational requirement for this position.
