UNIVERSAL BANKER 2

Role

The Universal Banker II plays a dual function role supporting both teller and personal banking activities while delivering exceptional customer service and operational excellence. This position serves as a key contributor to daily branch operations, handling complex transactions, opening and maintaining deposit accounts, supporting consumer lending activities, and identifying opportunities to deepen customer relationships. The Universal Banker II upholds the Bank’s professional image and ensures compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional service by efficiently performing teller and personal banking transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, payments, and account servicing.
  • Accurately process cash transactions, verify endorsements, place holds in accordance with guidelines, and obtain required approvals.
  • Open and maintain consumer deposit accounts, explaining rates, fees, terms, and account features to clients.
  • Prepare and process account maintenance documentation, wire transfer requests, and required account-related paperwork.
  • Accept consumer loan applications, communicate loan decisions, and close installment, HELOC, and other consumer loans.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding account status, transaction research, and error resolution in a timely and professional manner.
  • Identify customer needs beyond the immediate transaction and refer or cross sell additional Bank products and services, including Loans, Trust, Treasury, Investments, and Commercial services.
  • Support branch operations by completing audits, documentation reviews, and reports as assigned.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Bank security standards, confidentiality requirements, and Federal and State banking regulations.
  • Perform vault teller duties when assigned and assist with surprise cash audits in coordination with branch leadership.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for teller and banking staff and assist with training or guidance as needed.
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain proficiency in systems, products, services, and compliance requirements.
  • Act as a backup contact for branch alarms and assist with issue resolution in the absence of branch management when authorized.
  • Perform other branch-related duties as assigned to ensure efficient daily operations.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong understanding of teller operations, personal banking services, and consumer lending products.
  • Ability to interpret policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements and apply them accurately.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong accuracy and balancing performance.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining a collaborative team member.
  • Proficiency with bank systems, teller platforms, and general computer applications.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years of personal banker or equivalent retail banking experience.
  • Prior experience in a sales or incentive based environment preferred.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • NMLS registration required. Notary certification preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

This position requires standing, walking and repetitive motion related to teller and computer work for extended periods. Lifting up to approximately 20 pounds and limited sitting during the workday. Work is performed primarily in a branch environment. The schedule typically includes full time hours with rotating Saturdays; no on call shifts.
