Russell Standard is hiring a Plant Operator to help produce asphalt emulsions and specialty products used to preserve and improve roads. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating equipment, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and working as part on a team, we encourage you to apply.

Your background does not have to be in asphalt. Experience in production, maintenance, or oil and gas-or completion of a mechanical or industrial trade school program-can prepare you for this opportunity.

What you'll do:

You'll support daily plant operations, product transfers, equipment maintenance, and truck loading while helping maintain a safe, productive workplace.

• Operate plant equipment and open and close valves to transfer products.
• Load asphalt emulsion trucks and weigh trucks before and after loading.
• Perform preventive maintenance on pumps, valves, and related equipment.
• Inspect tanks and help troubleshoot mechanical problems with plant systems.
• Perform general labor and other tasks that support daily operations.
• Work with plant, laboratory, and sales personnel to support production needs.
• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

What skills and education you'll need:

• A high school diploma or GED.
• One of the following: two years of production or maintenance experience; oil and gas industry experience; or completion of a mechanical or industrial trade school program.
• Solid reading and math skills, including the ability to understand technical manuals.
• A willingness to learn new tasks, equipment, and processes.
• The ability to work with a team and independently without close supervision.
• Flexibility to work overtime and adjust your schedule as needed.

Experience handling asphalt materials and proficiency with computers are helpful but are not required.

What you can expect

This is a hands-on position in an outdoor asphalt emulsions manufacturing plant. Work includes frequent standing, walking, and use of hands and tools; lifting at least 50 pounds; and occasional entry into confined spaces.

The environment includes changing weather conditions and exposure to hot materials, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, gases, and other substances associated with plant operations.
