GHD has an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Hydrogeologist in our office in Phoenix, AZ.  A candidate that provides specialised geological insight on challenging projects, focusing on subsurface hydrogeological conditions, regulatory requirements and fundamentals of geology. Collects, organizes and documents geological and geophysical information under guidance to support models, assessments and client delivery needs. Learns GHD’s tools, workflows and safe field practices, including assisting with basic safety documentation and site records. Develops capability by broadening geoscience knowledge and progressively taking on more complex tasks.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Geoscientific Studies and Interpretations: Contribute to a broad range of water resources proposals and investigations by analyzing and interpreting geological/geophysical/hydrological field data.
  • Field Work and Travel: Travel and overnight stays to conduct field projects lasting in duration from 1 day to several weeks. Sometimes requiring work at remote field locations.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Sampling and Testing: Collect a range of samples within a project site, including with subcontractor, for laboratory testing and undertake testing in accordance with statutory frameworks and best practice to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Exploration Plan Development: Provide the design of exploration programs, including risk assessment and budgeting.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Preparation: Gather information and resources, and draft and complete standard requests for bid solicitation requests for proposal (RFP) and requests for tender (RFT) on the requester side.
  • Client & Customer Management (External): Help senior colleagues manage client and customer relationships by using relevant sales or client systems.
  • Community of Practice Management: Participate in a community of practice in a defined area of expertise or consulting to begin to build own expertise.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Mineral Reserves and Resource Assessment: Coordinate a range of complex mineral assessment operations, focusing on both quantity and quality of deposits.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Project Management: Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
  • Simulation and Modelling: Deliver the design and execution process of increasingly complex simulations or models, ensuring accurate and relevant output.
  • Solutions Analysis: Interpret data and identify possible answers. Involves navigating a wide variety of processes, procedures, and precedents.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hydrology, Geology, Geoscience, or related field.

Experience

  • 0-2 years of experience in a related field.
