Summary
First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate. These are term positions (more than 1 year) with an initial appointment expecting to last at least 13 months but may be extended up to a total of four years, or more based on any changes to regulations governing the number of years term appointments may last, without further competition at management's discretion.
Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operates light duty motor vehicles such as pickup trucks, panel trucks, vans, and sedans, and machinery such as lawn mowers, brush chippers, and snow blowers. Performs operator-level checks and maintenance (fluids, tire pressure, blade sharpening) on vehicles, equipment, and power and hand tools. Trash collection and removal, transportation and transfer of property, equipment, materials, and supplies to various locations within the park, and other motor vehicle and operational support duties as assigned. Serves as a member of the park's snow removal team and will be expected to assist with snow and ice removal operations during winter weather events. Duties may include operating vehicles and snow removal equipment, spreading salt or other deicing materials, clearing designated areas, and performing related tasks to help maintain safe and accessible park facilities, roadways, and pedestrian areas.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license throughout employment. You are required to wear a uniform and comply with the uniform standards. A uniform allowance will be provided. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to a few nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. You are required to complete training, obtain and maintain a government credit card with travel and purchase authority. Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program.

Physical Demands: The work performed requires the exertion of moderate to very heavy physical effort. The work involves lifting and moving objects over 50 pounds, and in some cases, carrying 80 to 100 pounds (or more) with assistance. Working Conditions: Outside work is usually performed under all kinds of weather conditions. Indoor work is often accomplished in office buildings or in well-lighted, heated, and ventilated areas such as warehouses, loading docks, or trade shops. Frequently exposed to weather and temperature extremes, drafts, noise, dust, and dirt and the possibility of bruises, muscle strains, cuts and scrapes. Work requires the employee to follow proper safety procedures and use standard safety equipment such as gloves, ear protectors, safety glasses, and steel-toe shoes to avoid possible hazards in the work area.
