Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.
Duties
Duties may include but are not limited to: GS-11 Conduct basic psychological assessments and diagnostic interviews for Veterans with substance use disorders under close supervision. Provide structured individual and group interventions for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns, following approved treatment protocols. Support ACT team care by gathering clinical data, monitoring symptoms and functioning, participating in team meetings, completing documentation, and assisting with routine care coordination. Assist with staff training, program evaluation and outcome tracking, research support, quality assurance, and other administrative or committee activities under senior staff guidance. GS-12 Conduct psychological assessments, diagnostic interviews, and testing for Veterans with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions; use findings to develop treatment plans. Provide individual and group evidence-based psychotherapy, including motivational interviewing, CBT-SUD, relapse prevention, and treatment for co-occurring conditions. Collaborate with the ACT and Addiction Treatment Service teams to set recovery goals, update care plans, consult on patient care, coordinate referrals, and connect Veterans with community providers. Complete clinical documentation and participate in staff training, trainee guidance, quality improvement, program evaluation, and related administrative or committee activities. GS-13 Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and provide evidence-based individual and group treatment for Veterans with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Coordinate ACT clinical activities, contribute to treatment planning and care coordination, and consult with VA staff and community providers on patient care needs. Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation and support implementation of empirically supported treatments within the interdisciplinary team. Provide clinical supervision and training to psychology trainees and other disciplines; contribute to program evaluation, research, quality assurance, committees, and administrative initiatives. Requirements

Grandfathering Provision: All persons employed in VHA in this occupational series or in another occupational series that are also performing the duties as described in the qualification standard on the effective date of this qualification standard are considered to have met all qualification requirements for the grade held including positive education and licensure/certification/registration that are part of the basic requirements of this occupation.
