DEPOSIT OPERATIONS SPECIALIST
SUMMARY
This position is cross trained in all department functions to support operational coverage and business continuity. Additional responsibilities may include other departmental duties and special projects assigned by the management. Work is performed within established policies and procedures, with independent judgment and discretion used as appropriate. Procedural exceptions and unresolved questions are referred to the supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Perform account maintenance within the core system.
Review, research and decision exception items (NSF, Non-Post, Check Adjustment and Return, etc.).
Reconcile general ledger accounts; research errors and work with other team members to make corrections.
Provide support to branches and internal teams related to deposit related issues.
Review and respond to incoming emails or requests received by the Deposit Operations department.
Perform set-up, maintenance, and reconciliation of distributed deposit accounts.
Perform set-up and maintenance of account analysis and sweep accounts.
Process charge-off and recovery transactions: perform appropriate maintenance and/or account entry, and mail customer proper notification; review customer accounts for potential recoveries on charged off accounts and obtain authorization for recovery; report charged-off accounts and recoveries to SI and ChexSystems.
Identify recurring issues and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce operational risk.
Perform annual Escheat processing and monthly IOLTA account reporting.
Provide operational support related to Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and Health Savings Account (HSA).
Review Bounce Protection reports daily; send letters or daily notices when necessary.
Review and determine how to process transactions to restricted accounts and accounts with deceased owners.
Review holds, stop payments , and stop payment suspect report; contact bank personnel to facilitate error correction.
Provide operational support for the bank’s ACH and debit card programs, including report validation and issue resolution.
Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations; stay abreast of applicable resulations.
Comply with all banking regulations, policies and procedures.
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintain education and professional expertise through attendance at job related seminars, conferences, and workshops.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Possess a two-year associate’s degree from an accredited university or institution in business, accounting, finance, or other closely related field. Professional work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the minimum education requirement.
Possess a minimum of at least five years of professional work experience in a closely related field.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, memos, technical procedures, and regulatory material. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Operate standard office equipment (e.g., personal computer/printer, telephone, fax machine, copier, folding machine, microfilm reader/printer, microfilmer, microfiche reader/printer, calculator, etc.).
Must have good working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software programs. Advanced PC knowledge.

Valid driver’s license.
