The annual base salary for this position ranges from $160,300.00 in our lowest geographic market to $338,200.00 in our highest geographic market. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate's location, qualifications, skills and experience.

Global Energy Relationships Director

 

Based in New York, as the Energy Relationship Director you will be part of the Global Energy Partnerships team.  This team is responsible for the management of the relationships with areas of influence in: Fashion, Streetwear, Art, and Design,  and will be accountable for:

  • Humanizing our brand through relationships with people of influence who are moving culture forward, to keep Nike at the center of popular culture conversations and energize the business and brand
  • Providing outstanding service and brand management for these external relationships
  • Providing thoughtful insights to our cross functional partners to ensure that we integrate our relationships into the brand plans in authentic, meaningful and impactful ways
  • Driving Nike’s ground game to ensure we have constant, meaningful traction within the most influential communities within our most important cities

 

Who are we looking for?

 

We are looking for an experienced and talented Relationship Director with immense passion for lifestyle culture and strong connection to cultural leaders in North America. You are a brand guardian who is curious, connected,  active participants in various subculture communities. You see unique opportunities to take risks, expand perception, celebrate brand values, accelerate the business and advance the notion of sport culture through thought provoking intersections with cultural influencers.

 

In this role you will develop the strategy to build and maintain Nike’s presence in culture and ensure that we are always at the center of the intersection of culture and sport.  This will include the ways in which we engage within the cultural communities and how we deepen the relationships with innovative cultural leaders. Keeping the overall strategy in mind, you will input into the global portfolio planning, lead and drive discussions with our cross functional partners to define opportunities, develop the overarching positioning, strategic intent, and other business-critical components for a successful partnership. You will oversee high level aspects of our projects and partnerships and lead the team to deliver best in class service to our external partners.

 

What will you work on?

The shape of your day-to-day work will vary significantly, and therefore your style and influence will have to adapt accordingly. You must be consistently collaborative and open to the opinions and expertise of those you engage with.

In this role your core duties will include:

 

  • Serve on the Global Energy Partnerships Leadership team where you will input into overall functional portfolio planning and ways of working
  • Partner with the Global Energy Marketing Team to ensure connectivity into the geo plans, finding ways to integrate our partners in impactful and meaningful ways
  • Drive and maintain a powerful network and portfolio of cultural influencers, to keep Nike relevant in culture and energize the brand
  • Lead and drive the relationship management with our global product collaborators who are based within North America
  • Input into the global portfolio strategy and planning
  • In partnership with the Global Leadership Team, carry out the COE’s best practices
  • Provide creative and strategic acumen to input into brand and partnership plans
  • Gather structured and continuous insights to allow us to better serve the enterprise needs
  • Work collaboratively with any city relationship managers (where relevant) to ensure alignment and focus across all aspects of the partnership
  • Work collaboratively with the Global Collab Operations lead to drive all end to end decisions across the product development, merch and marketplace
  • Gain insights from external partner and share back to all relevant teams to input into strategic planning, marketing plans and overall management of the project
  • Communicate with internal partners for all questions, needs, concerns and requests of external partner - balance and assess asks/needs in conjunction with overall strategy, business objectives and project scope

 

 

Who will you work with?

You will be part of Global Energy Partnerships function, reporting directly to the Sr. Director of Entertainment and Energy Partnerships. In this role you will work with the Energy teams (Global and GEO), always with a growth mindset to contribute towards a World-class team.

 

You will work cross functionally, particularly with the Brand Management function, aligning on roles & responsibilities, to bring your relationships and the brand management plans to life.

 

And you will of course build very strong external relationships with key cultural influencers in the city.

A successful candidate will be expected to clearly demonstrate and articulate experience of the below essential requirements in order to be considered. Candidates that meet these criteria will then be assessed based on the competencies also outlined below.

 

Essential requirements:

  • 7-9 years of experience developing and maintaining relationships with cultural leaders and integrating them into brand plans
  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.
  • Deep passion and knowledge of fashion, design and pop culture and the Nike brand
  • Strong inter-personal, communication and organizational skills required
  • Proven leadership skills in managing/influencing teams and implementing key business initiatives
  • Ability to work collaboratively and influence cross-functional teams
  • Previous experience applying knowledge of business drivers to identify key indicators including budget development and tracking, and financial forecasting
    • Proven connections with influential Cultural Influencers and thought leaders (Fashion, Streetwear, Art and Design.) in North America, validated by external cultural leaders.
  • ·       Essential to have experience in identifying and building powerful long-term relationships, which delivers success for both the talent the business·       Prior experience in category, brand or account management, able to define and understand the full spectrum of the city and visionary consumer and a desire to better connect with them through your relationships  Functional Competencies:
    • External Partnerships Relationships Management – Proven track record of managing, servicing and leveraging high profile Cultural Influencer relationships which delivers success to both parties
    • Brand Management – Timely and effective brand plans for partners to ensure optimum service and maximum leverage
    • Cultural Acumen – Strong experience, understanding and ability to navigate the cultural landscape, translating that into breakthrough Cultural Influencer x Nike intersections.
    • Connected to Youth Culture– Deep understanding and experience with the leaders of youth culture.
