Duties

The Interments work leader will be primarily responsible for the oversight of the GPS/GIS Marker and Interment Collection program for the cemetery, to include: Ensuring that every interment and marker has GPS coordinates and are photographs collected and that all requirements in the proper SOP for gravesite and headstone location and placement are met. Motivates and promotes the teamwork of those they lead to perform as an effective working unit. Incumbent may be temporarily assigned as Cemetery Caretaker Work Supervisor during Cemetery Caretaker Work Supervisor's absence and will perform other duties as assigned. The work leader will demonstrate and employ proper work methods or procedures to the crew being led. Advises other employees to follow the Supervisor's instructions and meet deadlines. Checks work that is in progress and again when it is completed to ensure compliance with Supervisor's instructions on sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines. Keeps Supervisor informed on the progress of work or any delays encountered. Obtains additional guidance or decisions from the Supervisor when problems or unfamiliar situations are encountered during the work. Work schedule: May be required to work Monday through Friday to include occasional weekends. Due to the mission of the National Cemetery, the cemetery cannot be closed for more than 2 consecutive days at any given time. Additionally, when a Federal holiday falls on a Monday or Friday, staff may be required to work on that holiday or a Saturday. All staff is required to work Memorial Day each year. Staff will be required to work overtime, weekends and holidays when necessary to meet the needs of the cemetery. Occasionally staff may be called back to the facility to perform emergency overtime work.
