Summary
This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Chief of Guards assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at USAG Fort Leonard Wood.
Duties
Supervise groups of workers through one or more levels of subordinate supervisors. Assign sure that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed work in terms of organizational objectives and special assignments, set priorities, and deadlines. Ensure that staff are appropriately selected, utilized, and developed. Plan and coordinate the activities of two shifts of security guards. Perform managerial and administrative duties relating to the security guard force.

Additional information
This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer such as chemical protection masks, gloves, and other protective equipment, and may be required to be certified in the use of aerosol irritants and baton. The incumbent must not have any medical condition that precludes the wearing of a chemical protective mask and over garments. The incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminals. Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors. Employee must be able to perform as a member of the installation's overall security response capability. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. This position requires the completion of a one year supervisory probationary period. The purpose of the supervisory probationary period is to provide the agency with an opportunity to assess your supervisory performance. Direct deposit of pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Security and Intelligence Career Field position aligned under the Operational Support Career Management Directorate. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances may be authorized, subject to the provisions of the Joint Travel Regulations and an agency determination that a PCS move is in the Government Interest. Recruitment and relocations incentives may be authorized. Student loan repayment may be be authorized. Salary negotiations for those candidates who are new to Federal service may be authorized. Credit for prior non-federal work experience and certain military service for determining annual leave accrual rate may be authorized.
