Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Duties

This is being announced at multiple grade levels; duties listed below will be performed in a developmental capacity. At the full performance, GS-09, the incumbent will: Respond to fire alarms for all classes of fires, including those involving radioactive and/or hazardous materials, medical emergencies, rescue operations; wild land fires, hazardous material incidents, and aircraft emergencies. Perform preventative checks on trucks and equipment on a daily basis. Administer emergency care for injuries at accident sites. Assess patient condition and determine the appropriate treatment.

Within the first year of occupying the position at the GS09 level, you must obtain/maintain the following Firefighter Certification levels: Driver Operator-Mobile Water Supply, Airport Firefighter, and Driver Operator -ARFF. Due to the installation's agreement to assist surrounding communities with wildland fires, you must obtain/maintain the following certifications: National Wildfire Coordinating Group (NWCG) Wildland Firefighter Type II Red Card Certification.
