 Dual role responsible for supporting both corporate development and capital planning initiatives at UL Solutions. On the corporate development side, this individual manages the M&A transaction process, including valuation, due diligence, deal structuring, and presentation. Within capital planning, this individual leads capital forecasting and multi-year capital planning models and will also support strategic investment opportunities under consideration. Role involves substantial collaboration and presentation interaction with the UL Solutions senior leadership team, including Customer Operating Unit, Segment and Corporate Function leaders.Â
Responsibilities
Supports business leaders in the identification of acquisition targets and cultivation of new investment opportunities. Ensures growth opportunities are aligned to strategic initiatives.Â
Manages the development of financial projections for acquisition targets and investment initiatives. Performs discounted cash flow analysis to determine valuations and/or financial returns. Capable of performing other valuation / returns analysis as necessary.
Drive capital forecasting, and multi-year capital planning models, coordinating with key stakeholders to track project-level progress and consolidate details to drive budgeting and prioritization decisions.
- Lead post-investment return analyses for large strategic capital investments and develop portfolio-wide tools, methodologies, and performance metrics to enhance investment tracking, accountability, and capital allocation decisions.
Manages the due diligence process for both acquisitions and large strategic investments, coordinating activities across multiple workstreams and integrating the findings into final analysis and investment evaluation.Â
Assist with the preparation of presentations that support the approval of acquisitions or capital investments by the UL Solutions executive leadership team and the Board of Directors.
Leads transaction negotiations in conjunction with the legal team to work towards signing and closing of the transaction
- Reads and follows the UL Solutions Code of Conduct, and follows all physical and digital security practices.
- Performs other duties as directed.

Qualifications
University degree (Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business Administration plus generally six to eight year’s professional level experience in corporate development, strategic finance, investment banking, private equity and FP&A.
Advanced degree and/or CPA.Â
Global M&A experience a plus.
Ability to execute all phases of a transaction.
Ability to develop and oversee enterprise forecasting models, conduct project return analyses, and leverage complex datasets and stakeholder insights to support strategic decision-making.
Ability to interpret financial statements and analyze historical performance for possible M&A opportunities and internal strategic investments. Can independently develop financial projections for Income Statements, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements.
Ability to assess investment opportunities against strategic priorities and develop the supporting analyses and materials needed to advance capital investment decisions.Â
Ability to gather and interpret complex information from diverse sources in a wide variety of forms. Ability to identify issues, collect data, establish facts, and present conclusions in situations where few decisions-making guidelines exist.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Northbrook or Chicago office
What we offer:
- Total Rewards:  We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimated salary range for this position is $130,000 to $160,000 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 20% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).
