This Licensed Practical Nurse in the Urology Clinic provides professional nursing services to patients in a clinic setting. The Licensed Practical Nurse(LPN) will perform patient assessments through telephone triage and/or rooming patients. The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Urology Clinic will complete a variety of tasks including rooming patients, monitoring patient flow, triaging phone messages, obtaining patient histories and vital signs, administering medications, assisting with diagnostic procedures and/or treatments, maintaining the patient's medical record, stocking rooms and assisting with medical emergencies.

The Licensed Practical Nurse in the Urology Clinic will:

  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and delivery of necessary nursing care.
  • Verify that all required consents are signed and dated prior to procedures and participate in procedural "time outs" with the Physician/Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP) when appropriate.
  • Administer medications as ordered by the provider and document administration accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date patient records within the EMR.
  • Conduct telephone triage and follow-up calls, providing patients with timely guidance and support.
  • Effectively utilize computer software applications to complete clinical and administrative tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Manage incoming department phone calls with professionalism, sound judgment, and a patient-centered approach.
  • Monitor inventory and ensure adequate clinical supplies are available at all times.
  • Assess patients' basic physical, psychological, and social needs and communicate concerns appropriately.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding treatments, procedures, medications, and follow-up care.
  • Adhere to all infection prevention protocols, including standard precautions, body substance isolation, and bloodborne pathogen safety measures.
  • Ensure safe handling, administration, and transportation of medications while prioritizing patient safety.
  • Promote a safe care environment by identifying and minimizing risks related to falls, disease exposure, and other hazards.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities.
  • Maintain accurate electronic and/or paper medical records in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Perform blood draws, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and basic laboratory procedures as needed.
  • Assist patients with completing medical documentation, including FMLA, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, and other related forms.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing.
  • Current state of Wisconsin LPN licensure.
  • Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire.
  • Prior experience in Urology preferred
