WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Global Compensation team function as the go-to-market arm of Compensation. This role will advise a subset of our business functions.

You will work in the Global Compensation team and report directly to the Director of Compensation Consulting.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Lead Compensation Consultant who will work alongside the Global Compensation team, business-facing HR Partners, extended HR teams, and business Executives to provide comprehensive advising support for Nike’s compensation programs.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, navigating ambiguity, and helping leaders make informed decisions. Success in this role is not about applying compensation rules in a vacuum. It's about understanding business context, evaluating competing priorities, building clear recommendations, and influencing decisions through expertise and strong relationships.

You'll regularly encounter situations where:

  • Navigate complex situations where there may be multiple paths forward rather than a single "right" answer.

  • Partner with stakeholders whose priorities and perspectives may differ, helping align teams toward shared goals.

  • Provide thoughtful recommendations and guidance, even when decisions are challenging or viewpoints vary.

  • Use sound judgment to move work forward when not all information is immediately available.

  • Influence decisions and outcomes through credibility, expertise, and strong relationships.

You are likely to thrive in this role if you:

  • Enjoy ambiguity and can make progress without perfect information.

  • Take an analytical, evidence-based approach to problem solving.

  • Apply thoughtful judgment when navigating nuanced people or business matters.

  • Stay curious and ask proactive questions before reaching conclusions.

  • Build trust by respectfully offering new perspectives and constructive guidance with stakeholders while maintaining strong partnerships.

  • Bring energy and optimism, especially during periods of change.

  • Balance the needs of employees, leaders, and the broader organization.

  • Communicate complex concepts in simple, actionable language.

Our new teammate will be accountable for projects or programs with manageable risks and resource requirements. We are searching for someone who has both compensation expertise, but also practical experience communicating with partners outside of the compensation function to explain difficult issues, work to build consensus, and influence programs and processes. Performing work in support of company plans, we need a professional who is capable of making decisions within guidelines and policies, as well as someone who demonstrates an understanding of how the business experiences compensation programs and good judgment when reviewing exceptions.

  • A minimum of 6 years demonstrable experience in compensation including program design, market surveys, compensation operations, and business advising.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a closely related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

  • Able to act as leader for colleagues with less experience; may coordinate the work of other staff members when needed.

  • Impacts a range of standard and non-standard customer, operational, process, project or service activities.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

In your first year, you'll:

  • Build strategic relationships with business-facing HR Partners, Talent Acquisition, and business leaders.

  • Serve as a trusted specialist for compensation initiatives, programs, and processes.

  • Develop thoughtful recommendations on complex compensation matters.

  • Apply compensation programs consistently while accounting for business context.

  • Navigate escalated issues confidently and independently.

  • Influence decisions through expertise, communication, and partnership.

  • Provide feedback from partners on the effectiveness of various areas, including compensation initiatives, programs, processes, tools, readiness, the HR operating model, etc.

  • Contribute positively to team culture and help others succeed.

We offer a number of accommodations to complete our interview process including screen readers, sign language interpreters, accessible and single location for in-person interviews, closed captioning, and other reasonable modifications as needed.
