Job Description
Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Bay City GPS on a full-time basis.
The Role:
The Packaging Engineer/Continuous Improvement Coordinator (CIC) will be responsible for providing direction, coordination, and follow-up for all aspects of containers for the plant, launch and current program. Responsible for studying and planning operations for the effective utilization of personnel, material, equipment, and facilities where decisions are made within the limits of general practices and policies. Work independently under the general direction of a supervisor. Work involves a considerable amount of perception and initiative to make decisions. The selected candidate will provide packaging engineering support to operations and lead cross-functional teams on significant projects to improve processes that affect quality, productivity, and cost.Â
What You'll Do (Responsibilities):
Interact with Global Supply Chain, Containerization, Quality, Operations, Logistics, Controls engineering, and supplier(s)Â
Perform Packaging Engineering testing methods, standards, and processes to improve QualityÂ
Assist in establishing operational methods and work standards using various measurement techniques
Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvementsÂ
Identify and coordinate implementation of density improvementsÂ
Manage buy-off processes with all affected parties within the plant for new and modified containersÂ
Coordinate with development and Implementation of packaging specifications for current and new product programsÂ
Responsibility for leading Short-Lead Time initiatives that pertain to packagingÂ
Responsibility for supplier shipping label complianceÂ
Oversee management of container loops for all returnable containersÂ
Manage damaged/ repair process for all returnable containersÂ
Assist in management of containments related to container dunnage changes/ repacks/ sortsÂ
Manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelinesÂ
Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):
3 + year of packaging engineer experienceÂ
Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or equivalent experience
Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)Â
Ability to travel as needed on a local scale Strong written and oral communication skillsÂ
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelinesÂ
Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complexÂ
Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processesÂ
Knowledge of Workplace Safety Systems pertaining to Safe Handling, Stacking, and storage of containersÂ
