Summary

Volunteer, project-based opportunity to support real Federal missions, and gain experience. Students must be enrolled no less than half-time in an accredited trade school, technical/vocational institute, junior college, college, university, or other accredited institution. With this project, you¿ll participate in ANG-E15 Laboratory Maintenance Branch¿s (LMB) support with the Division¿s Infrastructure Master Plan, in relocation of an automation system.

Duties

The Student Trainee will Purpose: Support the Division¿s Laboratory Infrastructure Master Plan · Standard Terminal Automation Replacement System Laboratory Reconfiguration and Rebuild o Perform internal & external cabling § Student will learn Standard Terminal Automation System (STARS) to support Air Traffic Controller (ATC) · Dual LAN methodology · Sensor (radar) pathway · Processing and Display Paths · STARS Block Diagram o Equipment rack & stack (SS3): Integrate Digital Remote Tower Equipment o Network configuration § Upload & download configuration files o Server/client centralized OS installation o Install 3rd party software applications o Baseline site specific system configuration The student will perform selected on the job assignments and receive instruction on agency or departmental goals, objectives, regulations, procedures, occupational hazards, safety standards, inspection techniques and work processes. Desired course studies in computer science, network engineering, and/or electronics. APPOINTMENT: If selected, your volunteer role may not exceed a total of 120 days after completing educational requirements. Participation in this program may be terminated at any time. AGREEMENT: All participants must sign a written Volunteer Service Agreement with their manager that clearly identifies expectations of the appointment such as duties, length of appointment, work schedule, training, mentorship etc.
